History was made on Thursday 22 September when the Year 7 Girls Soccer team won the first SCC Premiership for MCCP!!!
As a team of such enthusiastic girls, I am so proud to announce that the Year 7 Girls SCC Soccer team have made history! Being the first girls at Marist Catholic College to bring a trophy home to celebrate such a fantastic final win!
Winning our semi-final against Mount Saint Joseph 1-0 to a penalty taken by Lainey Grech, it was a tough game! All 15 girls have made such great improvement over the past 9 weeks, building strong friendships and even better soccer skills. On Thursday the 22nd of September our girls turned up in fine form ready for a tough match against Bethany College, held at Kinch Reserve, Condell Park. The match was a huge test of endurance, held to a nil all draw at the end of normal time. With the golden-goal extra time awaiting commencement, the girls were fired up by Coach Miss Gabriella Constantinou, Principal Mr Ray Martin and Sports Co-ordinator Mr Paul Burg. With a whole team of Year 7 and 8 supporters on the sidelines, the game was put to an end with a brilliant free kick taken by Lara Savet-Buck (7-6). The girls were dancing, screaming and celebrating their victory! Their sportsmanship, and dedication to fairness and to their team mates is to be congratulated. Special thanks to Dion Taylor and Leon Efthimiadis of Year 12 for giving up their time to help the girls at training and to be with them on game day!
I am so very proud to have been part of such an amazing team of girls. They have been such a pleasure to work with and a joy to be around!
